MOAA's 2016 Black History Month Celebration


The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment production of MOAA's Black History Month event Conversation, Community and ConneXions which took took place on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. A screening of Diaspora in Dialogue: A Profile of Africans in DC featuring all six documentary film participants was followed by a panel discussion exploring historical and contemporary connections between African and African-American communities.
Speakers included Rahman Branch, Director, Mayor's Office on African American Affairs; Gregg Carr, Ph.D., J.D., Chair of Afro-American Studies and Adjunct Faculty at School of Law, Howard University; and  Heran Sereke-Brhan, Ph.D., Deputy Director, Mayor's Office on African Affairs. Vice-Chair of the Commission on African Affairs, Loide Jorge, Esq., moderated the panel discussion.
